Personal Statement for PhD Health Policy and Clinical Practice (Health System focus)
I want to study for a PhD in Health Policy and Clinical Practice (Health System focus) because I am keen on understanding the theoretical frameworks and real world problems of health care systems and policies, and intend to pursue a career which would provide avenues for creation of knowledge in this field and its dissemination. This interest in academic research in healthcare system is shaped by both curiosity and exposure. I started my undergraduate research exposure in the field of bioscience. However, the opportunity to study several social science courses such as issues in biotech, microeconomics, management, and psychology and during my second BS at Rutgers University as a Fulbright-PLUS scholar helped me rethink about the field in which I would want to make

I also strongly believe the interdisciplinary approach to elucidating solutions for health care service delivery issues along with a strong training in the quantitative and analytical tools offered at the Dartmouth program would prepare me well for a research career. Further, being part of a major research University with cutting edge research in allied areas such as engineering and business would enable me through seminars and dialogues to gain a multidisciplinary insight into health policy and clinical practice research
With my interdisciplinary background in biotechnology, social sciences and management, along with research experience in both life sciences and social sciences, I am confident in contributing to the learning ambiance of the PhD program from a multidimensional perspective, while preparing myself for a career in academia.
