Health People 2020 Objective

Maureen,

I agree that MAP-IT would be a great selection for your Health People 2020 objective (SA-12 Reduce drug-induced deaths). I really like your explanation the phases of MAP-IT and how you related them to your objective. I agree with you that the second phase (assess) is very similar to the needs assessment in The Generalized Model. You also have a good understanding of how your objective fits into the model.

I admired the measures that FQHC put in place to effectively serve a population of people that, under normal circumstances, would not be able pursue healthcare. FQHCs aligned closely to the sense of equity that I began to develop as I was exposed to communities suffering from health disparities over the course of the internship.…

Most hospitals and healthcare facilities have been designed and built with ‘clinical efficiency,’ and not person-centeredness, in mind. The tyranny of infection control and safety agendas in many countries is adding to depersonalization; for example, no flowers, plants, or paintings are permitted in some clinical settings. However, considerable efforts are being made to ensure that new healthcare facility designs adopt a more person-centered approach. Because not all patients and staff can expect facilities that are designed with person-centeredness explicitly in mind, there is a need to consider how existing environments can be enhanced. Developing person-centered care requires a sustained commitment to the facilitation of multiple aspects…
