By reading a few papers, data transferring can play a very important role in HMIS. It’s important that when an organization transfers to a new system, they need to be able to transfer any data or information from the old system to the new system (Felton, 2012). This can be difficult and costly but with the right CIO and executives making the right decisions, this can be done. Personally, I have seen this been done when physicians make the decision to transfer from one EHR to another. This is a lot of work and can a lot of time, not to mention the funding can play a big role in this. Having a Electronic Health Record or Electronic Medical Record has been a a great advantage for the organization. It has the ability to transfer patient data from one department to another, space saving benefit of a digital record environment, helps increase the number of patients served per day which enhances work flow and increased productivity, etc. (UK Essays, 2014).
