Health information management (HIM) professionals play a vital role in for the quality, availability, and timeliness of health information, they have distinct roles in the current policy and practices. HIM professionals must strengthen their roles in promote electronic exchange for access and use of health information while protecting the privacy and security of patients ' health information. This paper discusses variety of roles that health information mangers play in acute and subacute setting along with job descriptions and patient population of each setting. It also focuses on the challenges that HIM professionals face when collecting data for the facility.

The Program provides therapies to help patients regain self-care, mobility, communication, and cognitive and social skills to become as independent as possible. Pineville Rehabilitation Center offers Stroke Recovery Program, Joint Replacement, Cardiac Care, Dementia Care, Palliative, Comfort and Hospice Care, and Rehabilitative Services. A variety of health care professionals work with patients during their rehabilitation stay. These professionals include case managers, physicians, dieticians and nutritionists, social workers, recreation therapists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants. This interdisciplinary team ensures all of the patient needs are being met to the fullest. HIM follow and participate in the design, development, or implementation of an information platform for managing and sharing health information, privacy and security. This should always be the top priority. Traci states that it is a difficult task when hiring an employee for the first time and figuring out how much to pay him/her. The salary you offer must be fair and competitive, without paying too much for the job. Market rates are the source for determining the minimum you should pay. Candidate’s expectations are based upon the market, so you need to be aware of what the competition offers (Planning Your Recruitment, 2010). You will first need to have a job description handy. Basing the market on title alone leaves lots of room for negotiation. For administrative staff, you need to ask yourself what the cost would be to your company if there was no one filling the position because if a therapist is not here to treat a patient then the company is losing business or revenue.
The basic structure for an incentive compensation plan is a base salary that represents 80 percent of the overall compensation plan. The remaining 20 percent constitute the incentives.
