INTRODUCTION
The World Health Organisation (WHO) (2016) defines Health Impact Assessment (HIA) as “Assessment of the change in health risk reasonably attributable to a project, programme or policy and undertaken for a specific purpose”. Health impact assessments identifies both negative and positive impact a proposed intervention will have on the health and wellbeing of the target population (Western Australia Department of Health (WADH 2011). This happens during the planning stages of the proposed intervention and helps influence the decision making process in regards to whether the plan is feasible or not (WADH 2011). In Moira high rate of overweigh and obesity were caused by poor dietary habits and lack of physical activity (DHHS 2014). Therefore strategies to increase intake of fresh food, fruits and vegetables, and physical activities are recommended so as to reduce the global burden of these non-communicable diseases (WHO 2016).Studies conducted by Artinian et al. (2010) showed that the change in dietary habits to healthier alternatives as well physical activities have helped decrease the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and reverse the prevalence of type II diabetes and pre-diabetes in overweigh and obese Americans.
