Health disparities negatively affect groups of people. Groups can be classified by race, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation, income, and residential location. Over the past 20 years, a governmental program called Healthy People has set goals related to disparities. The goal of 2000 was aimed at reducing health disparities for Americans. In 2010, the goal was to eliminate health disparities. The current goal of 2020 is to have equity of health, eliminate disparities, and achieve health improvement for all groups ("Disparities," Oct, 2016). Do you think these are realistic goals?
