First, we could start by teaching the children at school how to cook healthy meals. Ban sugar bombs from the school restaurants and vending machines. Teach children about fruit and vegetables at a young age, it is more likely when they reach an older age that they are going to make better choices. As well, in low-income areas, there should be affordable housing for the workers, so that the people don’t have spent everything they earn on bills. Furthermore, when neighborhoods are designed in the city should mix the people better, the neighborhoods should be a mirror of the population, a mix of all the classes. Particularly, because the quality of housing and neighborhoods the people live in, have such an effect on health, the real estate developers should make efforts to this regard. When there is a diversity of people in the neighborhoods, there will be a bigger variety of stores, and like this, fresh produce widely available. Now the poor pay more for everything, and are forced to travel long distance to get fresh produce; poverty tax. To have a better change at social interactions architects need to design neighborhoods that accommodate this, for example, create vegetable gardens for the community.
