My most recent experience with leadership is during my health care practicum class. The class, which require students to complete a total of 60 hours in a healthcare setting shadowing a manager’s or supervisor, is helpful for a future career in healthcare. One example of my leadership experience is being a section leader in my high school’s band. I became one of two section leaders of Low Brass. I'm in charge of 8 talented underclassmen, and needed to teach them how to be heard so that I can assure that when I graduate; I leave behind a section that will thrive without me. This was my main reason for taking on zero period zero period. I wanted to better prepare myself to teach an instrument which i was not familiar with.…

I am glad you brought up that faculty needs to be “competent” in Evidence Based Practice (EBP). I had the opportunity to work for a college as a Clinical Adjunct Instructor (CAI). In doing so, CAI were required to monitor, teach, and be available for questions in the clinical lab prior to going to sites. I had a hard time adjusting to the skills check off list due to some of the skills were not up to date such as Foley catheter insertions. When I brought this to their attention including providing EBP literature.…

I have a similar view compare to yours, I firmly believe that nurses or advance practice nurses do apply theories, models and principle in daily nursing practice, however, the theories, models and principles are simply gone unnoticed. There is room for improvement to enhance the awareness of theories, models and principles that are being applied, however I believe that does not represent the theory-practice gap. I appreciate your expression on how you have gained deeper understanding of the theories that you have learned, and you are planning on including more theories into future practice. I have adjusted my philosophy after the semester of learning. At beginning of the semester, I simply believe one particular theory will support my advance…

According to the official National Honor Society website, NHS serves to “not only recognize students for their accomplishments, but challenge them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.” The paragraph goes on to describe how the students in NHS ideally strive to achieve “excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.” As an individual hoping to become a member of the society, I interpret this to mean that when one enters NHS, they are not granted the freedom to then be lazy with their grades or lax with their leadership simply because they were deemed suitable for the society at one point. Rather, as a member of the National Honor Society, one becomes a leader on campus and a model of character, while continuing to offer constructivity and inspiration to their community and peers.…

Once, I have a better understanding of those skills, they will benefit me in the long run. For example, I am going to be responsible to provide the correct information to the doctors I will be working with. They need to be informed on their patients and their situations and of course, these things have to be done without error.…

My first leadership experience came from being a voluntary work as a life- and management skills trainer, where I had to deal with different background, minds and studies trainees, to be the leader of my own session, the thing that let me build my communication, discussion and presentation skills. During this period I have met so many people with various way of thinking, where I succeed dealing with them each time. After that I started working as assistant supervisor in a psychological support centre for the international medical corps, where I had the chance to deal with very professional and creative people, the hardest thing was being accepted as the youngest member of the team and to be known as a leader , but being in this atmosphere…

Thus, time was required to come to terms with the situation. As time passed I realised the possible valid grounds for appealing the current grade. Upon convening with my course leader (Carol Williams) I was advised upon the degree to which I hold a valid cause for appeal and steps to take.…

My leadership experience began when my supervisor and his colleagues had an important meeting to attend and had no one sitting in on the office for intake office hours, so he asked me and another intern, Isaiah, to sit in from 9 AM-3PM. My supervisor taught us the main component of this position in 10 minutes. At first, I was nervous because I was new to the agency and it was my first time performing front desk duties. But after a couple of clients I began to get more comfortable and confident with the process because I had performed similar duties when I was in my cubicle. At this moment I felt like I was a leader because I was put in a position where I had minimum training, but still could take control of the office duties, and according to my supervisor, my performance level was beyond expectations.…

I have learned about the importance of establishing and maintaining high expectations in my organization and management of the diverse classroom class as well as in both of my clinical classrooms. In organization and management of the diverse classroom, I learned that it is imperative to set and communicate high expectations from day one and to be consistent in maintaining them. This ensures that every student knows that you believe in them and understands exactly what is expected of them in and out of the classroom. I went to my primary care practicum site twice this week. I had a site visit this week.
