The psychological well-being of an individual can be affected by a mental illness, these may be mental health issues or behavioural disorders and include, stress, anxiety and depression (Australian Institute of health and wellbeing, 2015). Mental illness has the potential to interfere with the cognitive, social and emotional abilities of the person suffering from it (AIHW, 2015).
