Firstborns tend to feel responsible for other people, projects, and the world at large and judging from the long digital post-it on my desktop titled 'things to change' I suppose I am no exception.
During the summer leading up to my senior year of high school I was able to intern in an emergency room. Not only did I gain awareness of the day to day work schedule of a ER physician but I witnessed the reality of the health care system currently in place. Every day at 7:00 am I walked into the emergency room filled with people waiting. At first seeing the amount of people gave me excitement because it meant I would have the opportunity to observe more patients.
