The economy in Singapore is currently on a high, which means that many would face financial issues and may be struggling to cope.
Based on the previous findings, the preferred mode to seek help showed that only 13% among the 373 respondents preferred using social media and 22% preferred using online messengers. Although technology is growing rapidly and the advancement of mobile applications can help to fill the gap for mental health treatment, this may not be preferred by most adults in Singapore. This could be due to the fact that people would prefer to have someone to talk to personally instead of having to use an application.
There were some limitations to the previous study. The first limitation was that the findings were based on survey results which were self-reported and thus would have been subjected to social desirability bias. The second limitation was that about 50% of the sample were uncontactable which could have possibly led to selection bias and underestimation of the true rates.
