Similarly, less research and development and fewer pharmaceutical breakthroughs may be the consequences of lower drug prices. The opportunity costs associated with restricting access and regulating prices versus public funding must be analyzed in order to contain cost. 11
Another way of reducing health care cost is by maintaining balanced diet to reduce obesity. From an economic standpoint, treatment of obesity and obesity-related conditions require two types of costs: Direct costs and Indirect costs. Direct costs can be defined as those costs that result from drug therapy, outpatient and inpatient health services, and laboratory and radiological tests. Some resources are forgone due to an individual’s health condition. Such type of costs are indirect costs. Direct costs are easier to identify and measure than indirect
