Health Benefits Of War Veterans

Improved Essays
Every year many veterans come home from war while not receiving benefits. These veterans come home disabled and waiting in long lines to receive health benefits. Although, veterans eventually do get their health benefits, it takes a long time to get cured and get the liability claim paid for.. In my opinion it is unfair that these soldiers overseas at war, sometimes come home wounded, and while injured they wait in lines to receive the health care they need.

There are thousands of war vets that have came home and are waiting for their health benefits. In one specific case, Mike Rioux has been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and a traumatic brain injury. “Rioux has been trying to get his disability claim fully processed since

The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…

If a veteran loses a job, they cannot provide financial means to support their family and maintain adequate income to maintain monthly obligations such as utility bills etc. This will need to possible outcome being homeless and being left on the streets with no one to care for them. The primary reason why veterans and of being homeless is mainly because society does not fully understand the negative influence that PTSD has on an individual like a veteran. Society as a whole cannot comprehend what a veteran has been through because a lot of veterans did not discuss the events that occur within the battlefield. This will need to not enough knowledge about the illness but more importantly not being able to communicate with the veteran about possible…

Since the beginning of the vietnam war, the number of homeless veterans expanded dramatically. Thirteen percent of homeless men in the United States are veterans. It is estimated that there are over fifty-thousand homeless veterans on any given night. It is sad too see someone who literally fought and defended our country, and our lives with everything they had living in the streets, dying of hunger. It is mournful to see the government to just thank them with no reward and throw them into the streets like that.…

This is absurd due to the fact that after the war or wherever they're sent they are supposed to be granted college scholarships, financial aid, and assistance but if this is true why can they find jobs and homes for their family after all they have done for us. Imagine proudly serving for your country, you've fought in the war and you've ranked in the top 10, after 8 years you are granted permission to leave and go home but when you arrive home you've lost your job, home and family. The only thing left are tears of sorrow and regret, how would you feel? Lonely, depressed and left with nothing but the clothes on your back, you would feel used and helpless. Others may only think of this as à way that I am only trying to make you feel that homeless veterans take the highest poll on the homeless population, but that is not the case i’m trying to put à end on all of it whether you served our country or not.…

There were 572,000 claims and 90,800 appeals nationally at the time ("introduction to do veterans receive adequate health care"1). This proves that many veterans are not getting coverage, and this is unfair because, veterans should be the first people to receive coverage since they were the people that went out risking their lives everyday so that regular citizens could live theirs. Finally, many veterans who live in rural areas cannot find health care. Having so many veterans living in rural areas, it is harder for those veterans to find good health care ("the government aims to improve health care access for rural veterans"1). If there were VA offices in rural towns, these veterans could get the health care that they need because there…

The Effects of War on Veterans in Afghanistan and Iraq More than half of the 2.6 million Americans dispatched to fight the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq struggle with physical or mental health problems and often begin to feel disconnected from civilian life, deriving from deployment. As stated in the article “After the Wars: A legacy of pain and pride”, written by Rajiv Chandrasekaran and published by The Washington Post. The conditions of being deployed and serving for our country can conclude in widespread consequences within soldiers in which if no help is provided, could become permanently detrimental. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and an increase in suicides are some of…
