Corgis are so cute and fluffy with their heart shaped butts and their short little legs. I just wish I could have one here on campus. It’s disappointing that we cannot have pets live in the apartments. Not saying this will happen but what if Schreiner allowed someone living in the apartments to have a pet. There are a lot of arguments against having a pet, but there are real benefits to having a dog or cat around. There are health benefits of having an animal; along with it helps reduce the stress of students. If a pet did live in the SU apartments the person would have to put a down deposit to cover the cost of the animal’s destruction. An apple a day may or may not actually keep the doctor away, but what about an animal a day? It has been proven that when it comes to pet ownership, there are a number of health benefits for people, including physical, mental and emotional improvements, from enhancing social skills to decreasing a person 's risk of heart attack. But what about all the students that could not quite get the Dr 's to prescribe them with a need for a therapy dog? With that being said, Schreiner should allow all animals, with or without them being registered as a ‘therapy pet,” to upperclassmen living in the apartments with some requirements. These requirements would be that all roommates must agree to have a pet in the apartment and putting down a pet deposit of $500 or however much Schreiner deems fit as well as making sure the pet is trained. By having the owner/ student put down a $500 deposit this would be to cover any damages made to the carpet and/or apartment the pet causes. The act of putting down a pet deposit also gives students a real-life application to what to expect when we get out of college and go to rent an apartment with a pet and the responsibility of living with a
