Health 101 Reflection

Decent Essays
A time that I have done something that I now believe is wrong was in my freshman year in my Health 101 class. I did not attend class in order to sleep in because I was extremely tired. I was tired due to the fact that I was up late doing other assignments for my core classes such as Chemistry and Statistics. Attendance was required in my Health 101 class, so I told my friend to sign my name on the attendance sheet even though I was not physically there. The rationalizations that I gave to myself at the time was I am so tired from completing other assignments and I need a break, I deserve to sleep in because I never missed a class, I can get the notes from a friend.

I believe I did not fully apply all of my learning objectives while at the Wellness Center. One of my objectives was to increase the efficiency of the center by applying the knowledge I was going to be learning. Despite that I learned many theories and concepts about how organizations work, I was not able to make ample applications due to the lack of opportunities. One primary anticipation I had of the Wellness Center was to be given new job duties and responsibilities beyond what is given to ordinary student assistants. I believed that my experience and knowledge of three years would have given me an advantage for consideration.…

What? I came into this course with very little background knowledge about health coaching and I was pleasantly surprised at how powerful this process can be. Carla, this is a great comment. Thank you for sharing your real experience, an example of health being value-laden, it is interesting. The patient in your scenario did not perceive diabetes is a disease. I agree with you, the term of disease in the patient’s perception will be a poor state of health as you stated. As Risjord (2010) discussed “the concept of health is normative, it is clearly a human good.…
