Head Hostess Research Paper

When I think of leadership and an opportunity where I’ve had to show my leadership skills would be my job as head hostess at White Spot. I started at White Spot at the age of 15. With my excellent work ethic, great communication skills and highly organized ways I excelled in the role as a hostess, gaining the respect of my management team and coworkers. Within the first year of working there I was promoted to head hostess. Being head hostess I had to take on a lot more; from training new employees, delegating daily duties, being the lead on the floor and organizing reservations. I think one personal trait that allowed me to take on this role at a young age was my ability to delegate. Being a good leader you need to know to appropriately delegate

Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…

My leadership experience began when my supervisor and his colleagues had an important meeting to attend and had no one sitting in on the office for intake office hours, so he asked me and another intern, Isaiah, to sit in from 9 AM-3PM. My supervisor taught us the main component of this position in 10 minutes. At first, I was nervous because I was new to the agency and it was my first time performing front desk duties. But after a couple of clients I began to get more comfortable and confident with the process because I had performed similar duties when I was in my cubicle. At this moment I felt like I was a leader because I was put in a position where I had minimum training, but still could take control of the office duties, and according to my supervisor, my performance level was beyond expectations.…

It takes motivation and positivity as well the skill set to be a strong leader on the administrative side of things. Some of my favorite captains, Correll Maley and Amanda Leung, have wonderfully led the team and are both people I look up to. The captain should be someone who can support the team when they’re down and rally for them when they’re up. The captain should be someone who can handle the tasks that are required of them and who can work well with their other co-captains. The captain should also be someone who genuinely wants to lead, motivate, and have fun with their peers.…
