To me, this poem was about the steps taken after a break up. When these types of things happen out of where, people usually do not know where to begin to handle it. Some people think should turn to crying about all of the negatives, or if they should rather think about the positives that came from the relationship and from the break up. The poem almost makes the head and the heart seem like actual living beings rather than just the body parts they are. Making them almost come to life, I believe, is what gave more meaning to the poem. Although the girl in the poem is healthy, intelligent and has other great qualities, everyone just saw a fat nose and thick legs. In the poem it says “So she cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up.” I think that part of the poem means that she got her nose done and lost some fat in her legs, so people could finally like her.
