How do you think the study of history could improve your friendships? We have all in one form or another, heard that history repeats itself. Philosopher George Santayana once wrote, “Those who cannot learn from history are condemned to repeat it.” Knowing history does not mean that I will have the answers to everything, but observing the patterns and situations can influence my decisions. This in turn, can lead me to make smarter, wiser choices in regards to my relationships. The application of history to resolve conflicts in my life may even be something I subconsciously apply on a daily basis. We live in a very diverse community, and it is important to not only understand our backgrounds, but our overall history interacting as humans. Studying history would give me a more in depth understanding of how to apply history to improve my friendships by giving me more insight.

I consider myself blessed to never have lost a close relative, up until that day. So there I was fifteen, my first time seeing snow, my first time losing someone close to me, and my first time attending a funeral. A lot of firsts coupled with the changing of seasons. The way God can just take and give life, and God's timing. That morning as we all prepared for my cousin’s funeral, his son was being born.
