Firefighters rushed to the industrial district yesterday evening after a chemical explosion in a factory left 108 dead, hundreds more injured.
The explosion, which occurred around 7:00 p.m. destroyed the facility on King Street and created large fires and heavy smog.
The area was evacuated immediately, for fear that the chemicals that caused the explosion had leaked out of the facility and into the surrounding areas.
Hazmat crews were soon contacted to assist firefighters already at the scene. By midnight, the fire was under control.
