However, it is “not tolerated by the National Panhellenic Conference or its 26 member groups” and there are very harsh punishments for those involved including probation, suspension, expulsion, or any other penalty the board sees fit. For a punishment to take place, someone must report it. In joining the Panhellenic community, one has a responsibility to their house and sisters to not partake in these actions and to report any inappropriate acts that take place. Hazing has become more rare over the years and while it still may take place, that small percentage should not invalidate the infinite benefits of the Greek community.
As August approaches this next year, we’ll all pack our bags and head out of town. Move in day will come and as your family leaves town, each girl that chooses to rush will gain a whole new family in her Sorority sisters.
