Hazing In Athletes Research Paper

Have you ever pulled a prank on someone or been the victim of a prank? Pranks are a normal part of life and of growing-up but there is a point when they cross the line. This is the line when pranks become bullying. Athletes are victims of pranks that are known as hazing. Normal people are teased because of their weight and appearance when others think it is only a joke. Although many cannot see, pranks cross the line to bullying when they endanger someone or someone’s life or when someone feels unloved or unwanted, like they do not fit into the world. Many NFL teams have players who are guilty of the act of hazing. Hazing is the imposition of strenuous, often humiliating, tasks as part of a program of rigorous physical training and initiation. Picking on rookie players has become a tradition for many football teams. They make the rookies do the “dirty” work, which is work that they do not want to do. The information recorded on The Learning Network by Michael Gonchar tells readers in a nutshell that, “older players make the rookies lug around bags and equipment and sometimes leave them tapped to goalposts.” Something that is seemingly good and fun to one person, can be clearly harassment and bullying to another person. Pranks cross the line when someone does not like doing something they once loved, like playing NFL football, because of the way people treat them.
