Hazardous Drug Safety-Handling Precautions Model

The foundation for this study was firmly based on the Factors Predicting the Use of Hazardous Drug Safety-Handling Precautions model. A model of the study (Figure 1) is provided for the reader’s educational purposes, and shows a relationship between the direct influences, such as employee’s level of experience and knowledge of the risks of choosing to not use proper protective devices, and indirect influences, such as influence from peers and managerial figures (p. E300). Overall, the theoretical framework provides a clear connection to the authors’ study, as the factors that contribute to lack of adherence in the employees of the model can also be factors in the study’s sample. Figure 1 of the article provided an illustrative explanation of the framework for the study, thus appealing to visual learners and promoting education in students with different types of learning needs.
