Since the founding of the Kansas Electro-Rally, students participating in HHITA (Hays-High Industrial Technology Association), learn and develop knowledge and skills broadly utilized in STEM, career readiness, technical trades and professional careers. HHITA broadens its members’ ability to communicate, coordinate and resource while developing, designing and creating projects. Students involved gain experience working within an independent, college-like environment, that demands responsibilities and expectations similar to those in a post-secondary training atmosphere. At the beginning of the 2016-’17 academic year, HHITA members established goals for the Spring Racing Season. The interview on "The Remarkable Story of the Battle to Integrate Little Rock's Central High School,” was heartbreaking to watch. This interview is the hard to envision that a child had to endure such horrible treatment. There are a couple of things that really disturbed me about how President Dwight D. Eisenhower responded by sending in soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock's Central High School to make sure the 9 students would be able to integrate with the other students. My heart broke when Melba Pattillo Beals explained being 15 years old and having to run for her life because adults, wanted to hang her and they were actually chasing her and her mother. When she said for the first time in her life her mother slapped her…

As a small, scrawny, confused 8th grade boy, the transition from a coed middle school - Roger Ludlowe Middle School - to Fairfield Prep was an enormous step for me socially and academically. At that time in my life, I was unsure if Fairfield Prep was going to be a good fit for me: all I had ever heard about the school were glowing reports from my older sister's friends who attended. Fortunately, looking back at it, attending Fairfield Prep was one of the most impactful and beneficial decisions I have ever made for myself as it inspired me to be "open to growth". This institution has not only pushed me academically, but it allowed me to stretch my comfort-zone and become more comfortable with myself.…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

I am Elizabeth Taylor, I am a senior at Mission Springs High School. I am seventeen years of age. I am the oldest of seven grandchildren and three siblings, so you can imagine how much pressure is on me to be the “perfect role model” for the younger generations. I had a pretty good life, if I could say so myself. Besides my Dad deciding to take himself out of my life simply because my family wasn’t enough for him might have been a bit of a downer, but other then that life is good.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…
