My biggest fashion icon has to be Hayley Williams, the lead singer of the famous pop-punk band, Paramore. Her style would probably best be described as ‘unique’. With dyed orange hair, brightly colored clothing, and a combination of patterns from head to toe, Hayley can look good in anything and everything. And because of her confidence and poise, she really does wear ‘anything and everything’! One of the reasons that I appreciate her style is because she wears outrageous clothes without concern for what anyone else might think. On a normal day, she might be seen wearing a pair checkered shoes with patterned bottoms, or black and white skinny jeans with a band tee. Even in one of Paramore’s music videos for their song, “Still Into You”, Hayley wears a pink skirt with a pair of tights underneath that make it look as if neon green slime is dripping down her legs. Hayley is never afraid to stand out if she is in what she likes to wear, and it inspires me to do the same. The way that she styles her hair is also unusually alluring. Most times, it is dyed a vibrant orange, but she …show more content…
Sometimes, patterns do not seem to pair together well or her hair may appear to have been cut too short. Even so, I can still appreciate that she is self-assured enough to wear things that not everyone might like, and that she does not change her style for others. Hayley’s bold and brash style has encouraged many, including me, to be comfortable wearing and doing whatever I like. Because of this, my wardrobe includes dozens of patterned leggings, a vast array of graphic shirts, and a rainbow of denim pants. I truly believe that seeing Hayley being herself has in turn inspired me to do the same. Best said by Hayley Williams herself, “People who are 'different' are usually the ones that end up making a difference in the world.” And in her case, that statement is true. That is why Hayley Nichole Williams is my fashion

I agree with the author of Hip Hop Fashion, Masculine Anxiety, and the discourse of Americana, Nicole R. Fleetwood. Although I don’t regularly listen to hip-hop, it’s evident to even me that within the community there are several unspoken rules that must be followed to make it in the industry. In regards to fashion, the author discusses the way in which style and aesthetics are presented in hip-hop. The author goes on to write how an obsession to keep up this aesthetic is then brought forth, so much so that the “look” of hip-hop becomes the focal point. In both lyrics and music videos, the idea of having a lot of money and being able to afford nice clothes, cars, and houses is presented constantly.…

We live in a world that is progressively becoming more and more tolerant of people who stray from what is considered “the norm”, whether the difference is race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. There is still much to be done in regards to how people treat others but it has certainly improved over the past century. The dictionary definition of discrimination is “the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.” Only 50 years ago did the Civil Right Act get passed, in retrospect it was not very long ago that people were lynched in public by radical groups such as the KKK.
