The work was from the romantic era and was composed in four movements, Andante con moto allegro, Scherzo: Moderato con allegro, Intermezzo, andante espressivo, and Finale: Appassionato. The first movement was fast and spirited, with a complex melody. The piece began with a solo from the violin and followed with solos from the cello and piano. The second movement, scherzo, meaning joke in Italian, was upbeat and playful, with long phrases. Intermezzo Andante espressivo was very slow, with a less defined bass line and focus on the piano.
