At Hawkeye Downs everywhere is the smell of spilt gasoline, greasy hot dogs, and sweat. Everyone is always in a rush from trying to get a seat in the grandstands, to getting the bike ready to race, to getting to the starting line. Gas is spilt everywhere as riders are dumping gasoline into their bikes. Right is the middle of the rush is the tower, the best place to take the smells of the whole complex in because the smell of food from the grandstands. The smell of the grandstands tells who is making the food because if it smells good it is Tom, the best griller in Iowa, and if it smells bad it is some drunk guy I don't know. …show more content…
The bikes zooming past the grandstands as they cross the finish line, the fans cheering on their favorite rider, or getting in fight because they spilt their beer on someone while cheering on their guy. The announcer can be heard across the town, so rider can hear what gate pick they get for the main event, or the flag whooshing through the air as the finish line flagger signals to the riders that they are done. Hawkeye downs is in full go. Everyone hears these sounds of the flags and the announcer but none are listening because everyone’s attention is on watching these riders
