One summer years ago, about 2005, my family went on vacation to Hawaii which took all of two weeks during the month of July. We were all badly sunburnt from the strong Hawaiian sun, using bottles and bottles of aloe to soothe our burned skin. The rough ocean water left our eyes and ears waterlogged for days. However, other than these two setbacks, the vacation was a complete success. Every few years since then, we return as a family during the month of July for about two weeks. I have since become a strong advocate for the summer months. It is the place that allowed me to experience different activities and see unbelievable sights dissimilar to anything I had previously laid eyes on. The first trip my family took when we returned was a bus ride to the top of Mt. Haleakala. Thousands of feet upward we drove. With every inch, the air grew colder and colder as we felt the breeze and the light wind entering from the open bus windows. We had to wear suits to protect us from the cold as we exited the bus, subsequently noticing that we resided above the clouds. My sister and I, both being quite short, were given the smallest sizes, which happened to be a very bright yellow and therefore prompting us to admit we looked like large lemons. We had never laughed so hard. This is the moment i realized that our family trips to Hawaii had been serving two purposes at the same time: bringing us feelings of peace and serenity, while also strengthening the bond that we previously shared.
