In the article “Hawaii’s Beloved Beaches Are Covered In Huge Amount Of Plastic” it states “The results of an aerial survey, released this week by the state’s Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), identified more than 20,000 bits of debris on the main Hawaiian islands — and most of it is plastic.”. This shows that in Hawaii one of the biggest pollution problem is from plastic trash. In the article “What Is Plastic Pollution?” it states “ plastic pollution is when plastic has gathered in an area and has begun to negatively impact the natural environment and create problems for plants, wildlife and even human population. Often this includes killing plant life and posing dangers to local animals.” This shows that plastic ain’t only hurting the oceans this is hurting the land and other types of animals that live in land. For plastic to get into the ocean it doesn’t only have to be from leaving trash on the beach. Even if you throw away your trash at the beach but you still litter on the streets, plastic could get into the ocean from heavy rain, flash floods, because the water could pick up the trash and when it goes down the water drains all that trash goes into the ocean. The effects that pollution has on the ocean are highly brutal, killing and harming Hawaii’s native sea life. Hawaii’s marine life is very important according to the article “Why is Hawaii’s ocean important?”,it states “In many ways--more than we know--we are connected to the ocean. Without it, we could not survive.Everything we do, including watering the grass, throwing away rubbish and snorkeling, has a huge effect on the sea and the creatures who live there. Anything that goes down a drain in your house or neighborhood eventually makes its way to the ocean.”. This shows that without the ocean native Hawaiians wouldn’t have been able to survive. Bad ocean equals to bad fish, with the disease called mercury is from all the pollution in the water and the tuna fish ( aka the ahi) got this disease inside of it and people are getting cancer from eating the ahi

My family has always been big into traveling and when we do you will typically find us in the water snorkeling. The place that stands out most in my memory is Hawaii; the water was crystal clear, the coral bright, and the turtles would swim right next to you. This is where I fell in love with the sea, but this is also where I noticed it depends on us to protect it.…

They are trapped in trees, fences, or float in water, and increasingly causing the garbage patch to get bigger in the ocean. These are harmful to wildlife and marine life because some animals mistake the plastic bags for food and consume them. There are some cases animals become entangled inside the plastic bags, which leads to the death of these creatures. Moreover, this also indirectly has an adverse effect on human health because of the food web.…
