I am half Hawaiian, half black. But, in my household, the Hawaiian culture is upheld very proudly. My family’s history has shaped me through this because I became a very respectful, and polite young woman. In Hawaii, parents teach their children to respect everything and everyone. In my family, everyone respects one another. The younger children and adults always respect the elders which are where I learned to respect people who are above me.
