Hawaii Future Plan

As a high school Senior and aspiring college freshman I have given myself the ultimate plan to give back to my home of Hawaii. My plans may not affect those of the nation, but I do wish to bring positive change to the people of Hawaii and I am more than hopeful that it will have a significant meaning on those of Hawaii. My dream is to become a Human Resource Manager, it is hard to understand how a Human Resource Manager can bring change to Hawaii, but I am willing to prove that. A Human Resource Manager consists of working with others to better whatever they are working for and I am more than willing to put that in place of bringing change to Hawaii. I plan to make a change in Hawaii by influencing those of the younger generation by teaching them that their voice matters, leadership skills and how to be a positive minded person. By doing so, it will not only make an impact on those but families who …show more content…

These Hawaiian Islands have been inhabited for centuries before the first ships sailed across the Pacific. Hawaiian Islands have been shrouded in mystery since their history had been passed along vocally for centuries. Hawaiian culture hasn’t changed drastically ever since they inhabited the islands, until European and American explorers discovered the islands. This pair interested me the most because both nations have two completely different identities, but the Hawaiian Islands later become part of the United States. These nations have completely different history, religion, clothing, culture, and many more.…

I earned my first leadership role at the age of two. At that age, I became my sister’s role model. It was up to me to teach her the tricks of the trade for everything-- from tying her shoes to studying for her first math test. Although I didn’t have any designated leadership positions during my early years of high school, it was the similarly intimate, accidental moments of leadership that colored my participation in my extracurriculars.…

Sometimes I wonder why, out of every city, town, and suburb in the entire country of the United States, my grandmother chose to move to Lynn, Massachusetts. A city otherwise rich in history, but unluckily dubbed over by an ingloriously annoying jingle, “Lynn, Lynn, city of sin, you’ll never come out the way you came in.” I heard it chanted through elementary school hallways, mocked by middle school kids, and hummed by high schoolers. You would think its omnipresence would keep away travelers, but, then again, my grandmother didn’t speak English. She came over from the Dominican Republic thirty-six years ago, with my mother and her five other kids.…

This letter goes out to the government of Hawaii. I say to all you officials, “Please help our state as we face many hardships during this great trauma.” Lately, I have not been able to call my home a paradise where I once lived in, rather now I find it a death sentence. This disease we live in today affects our people, and cuts our states population into half. I feel the need to step up and become the representative for my people.…

This was the year that allowed to discover that although I wanted to pull my hair out maybe a good 100 times, my class taught me that there is no better thing in life than making others happy and having the ability to surround yourself with those smiles. When asked the question, “what is your biggest accomplishment in the area of leadership,” the same answer comes to mind every time. It is an easy question for me to answer because of the tremendous impact this experience had on my life. In my junior year of high school, the SkillsUSA advisors repeatedly approached me about the SkillsUSA Pennsylvania Western Region Leadership Conference. I didn’t know what it was until they eventually pulled me and a few top students from my school aside and told us about having a “tryout” to see who would best fit to become an officer at the leadership conference. Each of us presented a prepared speech and an extemporaneous speech.…

My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…
