Although there are obvious benefits to both arguments, I think that having screen time is a vital thing for children to have growing up, especially in the 21st century. I also understand the disadvantages of having too much screen time. I think that it is up to the parents' discretion the exposure to screens that their child has, taking into account the childs age and social abilities, among several other factors.

Personally, I shut off my electronics about thirty minutes before going to bed, because I have learned that if I am on them up until the minute I go to bed, I will have a significantly harder time falling asleep then I would had I shut them off a mere thirty minutes before. Also, I know that you need a balance between screen time

One of the biggest debates in America to this day is whether there should be media screen restrictions implemented for children or not. Some say that children need to play outside, while others argue that limiting screen time may not exactly result in more children participating in outdoor activities. There are a great deal of valid arguments on both sides of the debate, and I happen to agree with both of these stances. However, I personally would limit my child's screen time. I personally feel that alot of parents (especially the younger generation) use media screens and tools, such as cell phones and television, to "babysit" their children.…

The benefits of growing up screen-free greatly outweigh any negatives: missing references to pop culture has been the only downside of being raised screen-free, and even that is marginal. Parents interviewed about raising screen-free children for an article in the Chicago Tribune said they “have minor concerns that their kids won't be able to share in conversations with peers about TV shows or popular music” (Schoenberg, 2015) and that is certainly a valid-albeit minor-concern: I have said, “I don’t know that reference; I was…

Screen Time or Green Time Regardless of any opinion one may have on the issue, screen time is greatly surpassing time spent outside by children. I remember being a child and being outdoors from the time I woke up until I went to bed; unlike my nine-year-old brother who is outside playing with friends and family no more than once a week. Some would say this is fine and that other factors like weather or supervision could lead to today's children not being outside playing. While those are factors in how a child spends their day, I don't believe they are strong enough factors to…

When people think about video games, the first thought that comes to their mind is that they are going to make their children lazy and lose time they could use to play outside. At least that is what Christian Pfeifer thinks, the head of an institute in Germany that made a research the behavior on twenty three thousands of kids with ages between teen and fifteen years old.
