P.O.W 14 Pool Problem Kainoa Harada Problem Statement: The problem in this P.O.W is to find a formula to find how many times a ball would rebound off a table, with varying squares and rectangles to take into equation. Though there can be two separate formulas for each figure. And if you believe, there is a SUPER FORMULA that a group can find once every school year... Process: The process I, and my group, used to solve this problem was simply counting the height and width then drawing the lines the pool ball would travel. Once it hit a whole that would mark the end of the line counting, and however many lines, while using our formula, is the amount of rebounds that figure had. The book backs this up with showing the rebounds of a rectangle,…

A large part of the advancement of manoeuvres in these sports is driven by competition, as athletes push harder and harder to maintain high ranking spots in the competition. The advancement of manoeuvres are also driven by online videos posted by bodyboarders and surfers, on sites such as YouTube™ and Vimeo™ (13). Videos with more complex manoeuvres get more views and popularity and therefore more revenue due to adverts. Naturally this compels other athletes to ‘one-up’ whoever posted the video by going for larger and crazier manoeuvres. This advancement of manoeuvres is also effected by the way in which the competition is scored.…
