Sports in schools definitely can help students by enhancing their social interaction with other students. Sports is considered as a physical activity and it helps students to stay strong, healthy, and focused. In the article, “Have Sports Teams Brought Down America’s Schools?” Elizabeth Kolbert says that schools should not have sports mainly because sports have can distract students with their education.

It is often said that sports can take over a lot of a student's part. It’s mostly like a balance between your social time and the other things you get to do as well. Although Elizabeth Kolbert does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that young athletes may feel pressured from parents, coaches or other players to compete in sports they are not interested in, as if they do not like it. Also, that these young athletes may fear that they are being put enormous amounts of pressure on themselves to perform at a level they are not comfortable with. Kolbert insists that unusual behavior can be sporting situations. Especially in practices or even games, these young athletes are exposed to other children who may show unsuitable

Ways for example, not keeping them focus on school rather on sports, or even failing to prepare them for tests the next day. On one hand, I agree with Kolbert that sports have can distract students with their education. But on the other hand, I still insist that that really is not the case of why students are not doing that great in school. Research was shown that about ⅔ of high-schools students say that they are bored in their classroom every day at school. (Indiana University's High School Survey of Student Engagement (HSSSE) ). And well, if you are bored in class, then you definitely are not paying attention to the lesson. And not paying attention to the lesson, then you probably will fail the test on the
