After taking a year off, the Theatre Department has decided to bring their famous Haunted Theatre back this Halloween. The theme of the event remains a secret, but soon enough the advertisements will come out revealing the scary theme. Everyone from school was invited to participate in the theatre classes; Advanced Theatre and P&P that are organizing it. Auditions were held on September 19th and 20th after school and during class. The theatre teacher asked for each student to improvise different types of things during the auditions. Jazz History Concert Report II For my final concert writing critique, I decided to attend the live Ball State Student Jazz Combos on Tuesday, November 8; this event took place in Choral Hall inside of the university’s Music Instruction Building. The wooden hall was smaller than I thought it would have been, but it gave the concert setting a more intimate feel. There were three groups presenting that day, each under a different director. Because each group did not have a specific name, I had to label them based on the order in which they performed.…

I was not looking forward to seeing URINETOWN THE MUSICAL because I was tired from working all day and I really thought it was going to be a boring musical to watch. I expected that the musical would be set in the past around 1950s and it would be confusing for the audience to relate to. When I walked into the Philip Lynch Theatre I was surprised that the theatre was a thrust stage with two floors of seating. The main floor seats were all filled but the balcony seating was empty. The first thing that you noticed when you walked into the lobby was a wall that had a quote that covered the entire wall.…

Every day, I try to listen to a new piece of music. Whether it be a string group, unaccompanied choir, or even a percussion consort, I believe that by doing this, so much can be learned from just listening. About the mid-month of July, I came across this piece of music. I thought it was extremely fun and quirky at the same time! I had continued to listen to it, read some background information on the piece, and do a small amount of study on the work.…

This Stony Brook University performance was the first time I was exposed to any performance, so throughout the concert, there were many things that stuck out to me. The first thing that stuck out to me was the dress code. Upon arrival, I was surprised by dozens in very formal outfits. Once I was in the auditorium I did notice that there were indeed no phones, people talking or people eating. I saw the pride and excitement in some of the families faces as the performance began.…

I was able to see a different approach on how to grab the audience’s attention from the other director’s performance. The scene at the same time was very comical, but also held you on the edge of your seat with its high tension and wonderful transformation of a relationship between two characters on stage. This really grabbed my attention and taught me that a transformation of a relationship on stage really enriches the performance. Overall, the knowledge I gained from this activity in class really helped me establish a foundation and base for the mechanics of…

In Hamlet , Shakespeare utilizes the characterization of the ghost of King Hamlet to convey significant and climatic messages to the protagonist who , based on the information that is provided , carries out major plot - shifting developments . This leads the reader to make the connection to all that the protagonist does within the text and the initial meeting between the younger and elder Hamlet . It could be fairly speculated that the actions that are taken by the ghost of King Hamlet's character bring about the death of five separate people , all of whom died with different relations to King Hamlet . The ghost's appearance sets the revenge plot into motion , but it also delays the play ' s action . Shakespeare uses this method of solemnity…
