On 03/04/2016 I, Deputy Daniel Pruitt was dispatched to St. Francis Hospital Room 3234 for a abuse compliant.

I spoke to Adult Protective Services worker Melinda Hearn. Melinda stated she was contacted by the hospital for a possible elderly abuse. I arrived to speak to Hattie Falbo who is the victim. Hattie is 91 years old and was in the care of her daughter Betty Smith and her Husband Lawrence Smith. Hattie was very scared about the incident and I had to write down her statement for her.

Hattie stated to me that her son-in-law Lawrence had hit her in the head and also pulled on her arms. Hattie had major dark bruising on her left and right arms. Hattie also had bruises on her back she said was caused by Lawrence. I took pictures of all the bruising on Hattie and will be placed on a compact disk and placed into evidence.

Betty and Lawrence stated that the bruises might have came from the straps in the ambulance and also from receiving iv's at the hospital. Betty and Lawrence both stated they have never hit Hattie in the 10 years they have been caring for Hattie. Betty stated Hattie has fell many times at their home and she bruises easy due to her age. Betty and Lawrence stated Hattie has problems with dementia and remember certain things. Lawrence stated that sometime Hattie would think he was her former husband at times. Lawrence stated Hattie's former husband was abusive towards Hattie when they were married. Lawrence and Betty stated they believe Hattie was remembering being abused by her former husband and confusing that with Lawrence assaulting her. Betty stated she would get medical paperwork of Hattie's dementia issues and any other medical paperwork related to this incident. I asked both Betty and Lawrence before I left if they wished to make a writing statement and both
