At a young age, I was taught to stand up for myself and to help others in times of need. I believe that it is crucial for people to respect different beliefs even if they don’t agree with them. In addition, I believe that respecting different beliefs is a better method of negotiation than violence. I ask myself frequently, “How can I be able to inform people about the truth?” I want to able to create an environment where different ideologies are respected. In addition, I want to be able to inform people with opposing views about the truth of Islam. Islam is a religion of peace-a religion that unites people all over the world. The five pillars of Islam are very essential to Muslims. We believe in the declaration of faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca. The Quran teaches moral values and the importance of amity and unity. In my mosque, we started to hand out brochures that explained the principles of the Islamic faith out to anyone who walked by. In addition, we held multiple meetings with those who attended the sessions. I enjoyed the fact that not only was I was able to educate people about Islam but that they left the masjid with a different perspective of Islam. I have made amazing relationships with people that have made me a better person. This has made me more confident and able to stand up for what I believe
