During the civil rights movement, many people disbelieved that blacks should not have freedom. The Ku Klux Klan committed crimes against black people, and civil rights leaders in order to dismay them from accelerating the civil rights process. The Ku Klux Klan, or KKK for short hoped to scare people into submission. One of the crimes the KKK committed the most was murder. One of the most well known murders connected to the KKK was that of civil rights activists James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner. The KKK believed that colored people were worthless. In the Klan, they were all white, and not many women. The KKK was something called white supremacists. “White supremacy or white supremacism is a racist ideology based upon the belief that white people are superior in many ways to people of other races and that therefore white people should be dominant over other races.”(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_supremacy).
