The main characters name is Brian Robeson who is thirteen years old. Brian can be described as brave for not giving up on surviving even though the only thing he has is the clothes on his back and a hatchet his mom gave him. All alone after the plane crashed stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Brian wants to survive, because he wants to live happy life, he doesn’t want it to end. The problem that Brian is facing is that he doesn’t really know how to survive alone in the woods with no food or shelter there ready for him. He finds an emergency transmitter and by accident sends a signal to a nearby plane. The plane rescues him and took him back to his mom. There forth Brian develops a better relationship with his parents and is no longer overcome by the secret. He’s accepted his family the way it is and all that matters is that they’re happy and they are.
The lesson Brian learned was that you have to have self-dependence in order to survive. You have to do whatever it takes to accomplish your goals, whether that’s staying up all night or surviving in the woods for 54 days. He went through many though obstacles but he never gave up and never lost hope that someday someone will find him and take him back to his home. No matter what’s happened he never gave up and powered through.
Hatchet impacted me by showing me you should never give up no matter what happens, with any situation. Use the materials that you have and be grateful for what you do have because you might not always have possession over it. In the blink of an eye it can all just disappear. With Brian he got what he wanted back, but that doesn’t happen to everybody. Sometimes it’s too late but even if so, you should always try and never give
