In the wilderness, Brian learns to stop and think. When he is building the fire, he is having issues, and then afterwards, he stops and remembers what he had learned. In school, you might want to give up on a project or test, because you are having trouble with it, but you need to be self-motivated and keep on trying. Self-motivation is important because sometimes you will be put down by people around you, but you need to motivate yourself. Brian may not have wanted to do a lot of the things he did while he was in the wilderness, but he was driven to do those things, such as going into the plane to try to get the survival bag.
