Through my experience as Co-Director of the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, I have developed strong leadership and interpersonal skills. In my weekly eight-hour shifts, I lead a team of 10 volunteers to provide food and shelter services for over 24 walk-in clients while also conducting client meetings, answering phone calls, and running entrance lotteries. As the lead of our long-term housing program, I work with clients – many of whom come from precarious circumstances such as domestic abuse, physical disability, and job loss – over an extended period to transition to a stable and affordable living environment. Through extensive research and in-person meetings, I have helped more than 75% of clients obtain housing. These opportunities extend to within Bain itself. As I am reluctant to give up the many extracurricular activities that I am involved with now and am ecstatic that Bain offers opportunities for me to engage in fundraising activities including its Community Impact Day, as well as organizations including BGLAD.
