Global warming is part of the Earth’s natural processes. Just as there have been periods global cooling and periods of global temperature stability. Though these processes are natural and are given to the ebb and flow of the Earth’s rotation, precision, and periodic catastrophic events humankind’s industrial, scientific, and population explosions over the last centuries have had a marked effect on the Earth and how it is understood. As it stands, there are two major trains of thought about “climate change,” one group, the current majority, who argue that global warming is a real event and is caused by human activities and the other who argues that man’s influence on the environment is not great enough to cause any lasting or noticeable effect.

Ice cores samples form both the Northern and Southern Poles show that CO2 levels began to rise higher than they have been in thousands (1,000s) of years during the onset of the Industrial Revolution, circa 1950. ("Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet: Evidence," 2016) Currently the atmosphere contents a CO2 level of around 400 ppm (part per million). This is in stark contrast to previous half million year average of between peak periods of 300 to lows of 170 ppm. Although, global temperature can be effected by the Earth’s precision, tilt, and rotation none of these have change enough to warrant 1.5 degree Celsius that also coincides with the increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. (" '99 Percent Chance ' 2016 Will Be Hottest Year," 2016) However, more alarming is that the Earth is continuing to warm. 2016 is currently forecasted to be the warmest year in over one hundred (100) years. In opposition to those who believe that global warming is real and is a direct reflection of human behavior and habits many counter with that there are scientist that do not believe in global warming, there has been record snow fall in the recent past, that there has been increase ice formation in at the poles and arctic, and religious belief.
