Harvansha Rai Bachan was a noted Indian poet of Chhayavad movement. He was first Indian to get PhD. With “Madhushala” he was established as a major Hindi poet.
His some of works seems to be inspired by India freedom movements , while some seems to be effected by the death of his first wife where we see the deep sorrow clearly visible. His other works include an element of romanticism which suggests that Harvansha Rai Bachan is really romantic kind of person. Let take up some his works and try to analyze them. He is says life is difficult in this world , Is it going to be tougher after we die? He says here is my whole life, my loved one, don't know who will be there after death. The poem is written in easy hindi language but in extremely rhythmic way.

Hearing him read the poems aloud rather than reading them for myself gave me a new view and understanding of the message Komunyakaa was trying to convey. Yusef Komunyakaa’s style is heavily influenced by jazz music. He uses jazz-like rhythms to create a music-like quality in his poems. The impact of the music-like rhythms is somewhat lost on paper. By hearing Yusef read his poems aloud I was moved more immensely.…

“The Calm” by Sean O’Brien is a four part metaphor representing the infinite serenity of the ocean and the stars as well as the revolving of a lighthouse in comparison to the people who have fallen from the light. In the first three stanzas we see beautiful metaphors comparing the rolling of the waves to the movement of the stars and, the revolving of the lighthouse to the tilt of the harbor. The poem continues to describe the inhabitants of a nearby bar who have fallen from stardom, sharing a moment with the “saved” before having to cross back with neither a ship nor a captain. Mechanically speaking the poem lacks a meter as well as a rhyme scheme meaning that the poem is written in free verse. This choice is deliberate as it contrasts the…
