Your field of focus determines what you find in life.

If you want to be successful, this is a quote to pin up. It's one of the big reasons why some people are successful and some people aren't.

For instance, I have a friend who is constantly focused on lack. She comes from a beautiful place where, unfortunately, most people are on some sort of assistance. They spend their days drinking and hanging out on the deck complaining about their neighbors, their government, and their life. Obviously these people are not successful in life as they consistently focus on things that don't push them anywhere towards success.

When we were young, she used to tell me that she would never end up like them, but here she is - just like them. She is influenced by the people around her and her focus goes where their focus goes - on lack. She consistently says things like:

There's not enough jobs. There's not enough opportunities. You can't be successful unless you leave this place.

However, there are some extremely successful people living there. They run businesses, have an entrepreneur spirit, and are amazing people doing amazing things for their community. They live in big homes (that everyone else complains about) and they go on amazing trips and have a high-quality life (that everyone else complains about). Their focus is not on lack - it's on creating wealth while living in one of the most beautiful places in the

The Code of the Street by Elijah Anderson is a theory developed by Anderson himself that demonstrates the explanation of the high rates of violence and the life of inner-city people, mainly African-Americans, living in Philadelphia. In some of the most economically depressed and drug- and crime-ridden pockets of the city, the rules of the civil law have been severely weakened, and in their stead a “code of the street” often holds away (Anderson 9). The “code of the street” is known as a set of informal rules leading to the public behavior known as violence, deterrence, the possession of respect is at the heart of the code, and the belief that there are two different types of families known as “decent” families and “street” families. When it…

In the texts "The Matthew Effect" by Malcom Gladwell and "Mindsets and Equitable Education" by Carol Dweck, the two authors seem to be arguing two completely opposite ideas, but they have a lot more in common when you actually break their ideas down. These two text give a problem (presented by Gladwell) and a solution (given by Dweck). Gladwell presents the problem that success is the result of circumstance, and Dweck fixes the issue by arguing that you can have success, no matter the circumstance, when you have a growth mindset. Gladwell believes The Matthew Effect plays a key role in a persons success.…

Success has powers that can take control of us in both positive and negative ways. Margaret Mead explains that success is great, it's the winning prize, but it can also affect us in many ways. She also explains that with being successful, we feel threatened by others who are more successful than us. Lastly, she says that Americans are confused with being successful and how we should react. I agree with Mead because success can come with positive outcomes, but it can also come with negative outcomes such as:/ No one cares how they get successful all they want is to get successful and how others envy others with different types of success.…

Chapter One: “... but people aren't meant to be overly bright in everything.” (15) I selected this quote because it states something I need to keep in mind sometimes. I get extremely frustrated if I do not pick up on something right away or not at all; like origami or some math concepts. At the end of the day, it does not matter if someone excels at everything they do; what matters is that someone tried their best at everything they did. Chapter Two: “There’s nothing like a song about lost love to remind you how everything precious can slip from the hinges where you've hung it so careful.”…

The 10 pillars of wealth. Alex Becker The reason i have choose this book is because it seem interesting the way Alex Becker explains the way how to get wealthy is beyond what other people would talk about although it would be hard and tiring to work it will pay off in the future. Five facts that I learned in this book is that it is hard to become a wealthy person in the future because you have to have a good job that pays good money and you are going to work for a while to get enough money for the future and you have to make sure that the business does not go out nor you do not get fired. The second thing that I have learned from this book is to map out actions that achieve goals in order to become wealthy you got to have a plan for the future that you know that you will get paid a lot of money or not a lot as long as you do not go crazy with it and spending it on stuff you do not need more than thing you do need water, food, etc.…
