Haruto's Nomination: A Short Story

On the morning of July 7th, 1937, Haruto went to go see his friends, Atsuhiko, Akatsuki, and Riku, as Haruto was walking he came across a paper stating, “Enlist to Fight for your Emperor against the Socialist Chinese scumbag”. Haruto was a little bias when it came toward the military so he just ignored it, as he walked up the steps toward the door, he did a special knock, 1 2, 1, 1 2 3. Immediately Atsuhiko came running to the door and greeted him with a smile and invited him in, “Your excited to see me” Haruto said. Yes, I am Haruto, did you hear about the drafter’s going around taking people and forcing them to join the military.” Atsuhiko said. “uh yea…I did” Haruto said. As they talked Akatsuki and Riku came in and looked scared, “What’s wrong with you”? …show more content…
As they talked and calmed down, someone came to the door knocking really hard, saying, “OPEN UP RIGHT NOW”. So Riku walked to the door slowly and opened it up and saw a man standing tall and firm dressed like a soldier, he gave us a note and said, “You four, you have been drafted into the Japanese military to fight in the war against the Chinese if you try to run or escape it will be counted as treason and will immediately be found and shot on sight”. Then the drafter pointed to the truck and ordered them to get into it. As they got into the truck the four were scared everyone else in there looked sick and lifeless, when the driver got into the truck another soldier grabbed the curtain that was on the back of the truck and pulled it down and got in the front seat, it was dark and cold everyone was breathing heavily trying to calm themselves down. The four friends were just talking to each other trying to figure out what they wanted to do none of them even wanted to join the military but they didn't have a choice, Riku tried to find the curtain but it was so dark he just tripped over someone’s leg, So Riku just gave up and sat
