To reduce congestion, Atlanta Municipal Airport opened the largest single terminal in the country which proved to still be too small with the increasing traffic. Soon after William B. Hartsfield dies in 1971, Atlanta Municipal Airport changed its name to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport with Eastern Airlines providing Atlanta's first international service. Yet again, Atlanta constructs another passenger terminal in the 1980s, making it the largest in the world by being able to accommodate up to fifty five million passengers a year. With the foundation of Hartsfield Jackson in place, many developments are still made such as new runways, concourses and improved security measures to make the airport more efficient and effective. It is not until 2003 when Atlanta's airport receives its final name of Hartsfield Jackson International
