Harry S. Truman had a lot of moral dilemmas to face we he was trying to decide if he wanted to drop the atomic bombs. He had to think of the innocent people he would kill with the atomic bomb and he also had to worry about the Soviet Union feeling threating by the attacks. The reason Harry S. Truman wanted to bomb Japan was because on December 7, 1941 Japan decided to attack and bomb the Pearl Harbor. Japan destroyed twelve ships with a hundred sixty airplanes included, of those twelve ships was the famous U.S.S. Arizona and the U.S.S. Oklahoma. Japan also killed over two thousand three hundred American soldiers. The attack on Pearl Harbor cause the United States to enter World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor Harry S. Truman released a statement to the public of the United States on April 7, 1945 that stated “The foul attack on Pearl Harbor brought us into war and I am unable to see any valid reason we should be so much more considerate and lenient in dealing with Japan than with Germany.” The payback America was fixing to do to Japan was assisted by Germany and Italy. Some of the main scientist from those two countries was Einstein and Fermi. They built two atomic bombs that the United States intended on dropping on Japan, they named it “The Manhattan Project”. In 1939, the Germans successfully split a uranium atom, so this made them very familiar with forming or the creation of bombs.
