For my book review I chose “Harry S. Truman A Pictorial Biography” by Joseph Gies, Copyright 1968. It’s a picture book with real photographs of Truman life, growing up, Truman in the office etc. Gies purpose for writing this book was to narrate and visually show you Truman’s life and how it is that he became President. The book is written all in third person with an occasional quote that someone had said here or there. It’s mainly Gies retelling Truman’s life, but with pictures with added visuals. The only effect the book had on me was actually learning things about Truman because I didn’t know about him beforehand. For example, I didn’t know he was born in Lamar, Missouri on May 8th, 1884 and that he passed away in Kansas City, Missouri
