Harry Potter is one of the many and most well known modern mythology today.
It is a series of seven novels written by J.K. Rowling that follows the life of a young orphaned wizard named Harry, who finds out he is a wizard and starts to attend Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The series is a journey of him, along with his friends Ron and Hermione attempting to defeat Lord Voldemort, one of the most powerful and dark wizards of all time. This series is modern mythology because it has three of the elements of mythology. This series has world building, because it is set in an alternate universe. It has a central hero, which is Harry Potter. Lastly, these books are epic because Harry accomplishes things that end up saving the wizarding world.

The hero is unquestionably Harry Potter, a brave and loyal student attending Hogwarts. Harry risks his life several times in the series to save others. In the Chamber Of Secrets (Rowling,) Harry slays the Basilisk and destroys Tom Riddle's diary with it’s fang. As a result, he saves a Ginny Weasley and prevents any other students or teachers in Hogwarts from getting petrified. Harry is selfless and puts himself in strenuous situations for the greater good. For instance, in the Deathly Hallows (Rowling), Harry sacrifices himself and goes into the forbidden forest to face Voldemort one on one, knowing that the fate of others rest on his
