The Phillipses and Mikowski did not have the Higginses and the Hargroves removed from the Talbot Bank loans and to date, the Phillipses and Mikowski have not paid any funds to the Higginses and the Hargroves as required by the Purchase Agreements. In an effort to avoid their contractual obligations to the Higginses and the Hargroves, the Phillipses claim that the Higginses, the Hargroves, and the Fitzgeralds entered into a civil conspiracy to defame and disparage them, the Riverhouse, and Easton Golf. See Second Amended Counterclaim. The Phillipses contend this was done by spreading rumors throughout Talbot County, and by waging a “defamation campaign” on Facebook.…

It’s hard to believe today that Walt Disney was once fired because he “lacked imagination and had no ideas,” or that the Beatles were cut from a record level because the company didn’t think that they had a future in show business. (Weismen) Still harder to believe is that J.K. Rowling’s world famous book ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ was rejected by no less than 12 publishers before it was finally published in 1997 at the insistence of Bloomsbury chairman, Nigel Newton’s daughter Alice. (Vincent; Lawless “Nigel Newton”) The story of an 11 year old orphan thrust into an unfamiliar world of magic and set on a course to defeat the dark Lord Voldemort who killed his parents transformed into a 7 book series that has sold nearly 500 million…

In 1997, J. K. Rowling’s first of seven books in the Harry Potter series was released. The book quickly became a best-selling phenomenon and so did it’s successors as most young adult readers found themselves hooked and simply couldn’t get enough of Harry Potter. Although the series became highly popular, it also brought wide-spread controversy with some parents and teachers who were under the impression that the book promoted the occult, witchcraft, and evil. This perception led to attempts to ban the book series from many schools and libraries. Contrarily, the Harry Potter series should not be banned because it provides lessons on moral values, promotes a healthy mind, it facilitates creativity.…

If Winston's newspaper is demolishing the use of bigger words, than why even publish his newspaper? He shouldn't have to “dumb down” his intelligence just so people could understand it. Throughout the book it is also explained that the people are under tight surveillance and the government also restricts what can or cannot be said or released to the public. Why would the public want to follow such a monarchy type of government? Are they scared to speak up against the government?…

In “The Outsiders”, S.E. Hinton created more than twenty characters each having diverse personalities, which causes readers to feel a certain way about them, such as admiration or hatred. For example, Sodapop Curtis would make the perfect bae, because of his charming personality. Additionally, if Darrel Curtis, Soda’s older brother, were a real person, he would most likely become someone's frenemy, due to his actions and words. While Dallas Winston would be the ideal person to be eliminated from the young adult novel. So, the three characters’ different actions, words, and personalities, cause people to conclude that their bae would be Sodapop, Darry would be their frenemy, and lastly, they would desire for the seventeen-year-old Dally to be eliminated.…

To Kill A Mockingbird The people who are quiet and observant are the people who change the world. This statement is true because when people take the time to actually listen to others, they find a way to do something that will contribute to mankind. Quiet people have really loud minds and they wait to express themselves when the time is right. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, the author shows examples of how the quietest people are often the most powerful. Would you perform an exceedingly perilous deed merely for fun? In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem, Dill, and Scout did that very thing, not to their best good. The story took place in the late 1940’s in a sleepy town in Maycomb County, Alabama. Boo Radley, whose real name was Arthur Radley, lived three houses down from the Finches, and Boo occupied that house without ever coming out for 15 years, carefully guarded by his father, until his father passed away, and then by his brother, Nathan Radley.…

Muggles Vs Magic As the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry once announced, “You place too much importance, and you always have done, on the so-called purity of blood! You fail to recognise that it matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be!” So why should anybody who is a member of the non-magical community, an ordinary human, be exempt from the chance to interact with those pure bloods (pupils with all magical heritages)?…
