Harry Potter Hero Mythology Essay

Although all the odds are again them, a hero is someone who prevails through the adversity and reaches the peak of the mountain through their inner courage. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone harry and his friends show heroism through their journeys and obstacles. When the average person thinks of a hero they usually think of a superhero that goes out and fight crimes like Batman, Superman, and Spiderman, but not all hero’s wear capes. There are multiple types of hero’s in hero myths such as the classic hero and the anti-hero and the question may be asked whether Harry Potter is considered a hero and if so how?
J.K.Rowlings view of a Hero Myth story has similarities and differences between a typical hero myths. A few of her similarities are with the upbringing of Harry Potter which who is the main character in the Harry Potter saga. He was born into a prestige family, but life was then change when his parents died and he became an orphan. Not only was he born without parents, but he had to grow up without any parental guidance. He was raised by parents who didn’t care for him or even help him in everyday life. Harry had nothing.

Harry is a classic hero because he is a character you want to see succeed. He has all the odds against him with nothing to lose which is usually how the writers presents heroes. He is the guy you root for in the finale fight scene in the movie.
